KGM Motors UK Corporate Social Responsibility

Corporate and social responsibility is a way for us to benefit our stakeholders and communities through voluntary environmental and social activities, regardless of ethnicity, age and gender. Our mission is to establish targets, commitments, build community partnerships, improve supplier codes of conduct, and engage stakeholders to improve the social and environmental responsibility for all of our stakeholders.

"We ensure fair treatment across all employees, customers and stakeholders regardless of age, race, culture or sexual orientation. We promote positive treatment of all employees including favourable pay and benefits in excess of mandated minimums. This includes fair employment consideration for all individuals regardless of personal differences. We look at expansion of vendor use to utilise different suppliers of different races, genders, ages or economic statuses. We encourage honest disclosure of operating concerns to our parent company in a timely and respectful manner."

Employee responsibility

We encourage our employees to be confident in their ideas and try new things in the workplace. There are a variety of supports available, including equal chances, a diverse range of options, and high-efficiency smartwork. Our onboarding process for new employees is a step-by-step guide to understand KGM Motors UK's value chain and strengthen motor industry expertise - the focus is on orientation and understanding KGM Motors UK's "Driving forwards together" values.

Our company is dedicated to protecting human rights. We are a committed equal opportunity employer and will abide by all fair labour practices. We'll ensure that our activities do not directly or indirectly violate human rights in any country (eg. modern slavery). We ensure that we don't risk the health and safety of our employees, and community and support diversity and inclusion. Modern Slavery Statement.

"As an organisation, we are passionate that all our colleagues are paid fairly. We value the contribution of all individuals at KGM UK, and our salary and reward packages are one way that we demonstrate this. We are delighted to be a recognised Living Wage employer, joining other companies with the same ethical approach to fair pay."

Investors in people

KGM Motors UK, formerly SsangYong Motor UK, was awarded by Investors in People, the "We invest in people" silver accreditation in 2023. Working closely with KGM Motors UK, Investors in People recognised the company's success as a high-achiever and business-leader, noting its engaging impact in people management, leadership and development.

Living wage employer

The real Living Wage is the only rate calculated according to the costs of living. It provides a voluntary benchmark for employers that wish to ensure their staff earn a wage they can live on, not just the government minimum. Since 2011, the living wage movement has delivered a pay rise to over 300,000 people and put over 1.6 billion extra into the pockets of low paid workers.

employee education + training

KGM Motors UK fosters talent who can create new customer-centered values and businesses based on job expertise. We support continuous and voluntary participation according to the content and methods desired by employees such as online content development, and external education. KGM Motors UK encourage employees for internal promotion.

Apprenticeship Programme

KGM Motors UK runs a national Technician Apprenticeship Programme, to develope technicians of the future. The programme is designed to deliver blended learning pathways providing apprentices with future technical skills experience, expertise and hands-on tuition from directly within the automotive industry, while also enabling them to earn as they learn. It's been specifically designed to maximise on-the-job training whilst minimising time away from the KGM dealership.
Apprenticeships form an important part of the motor industry, and training a new generation of skilled workers is imperative.

Local community social contribution

KGM Motors UK has a set corporate social responsibility initiatives to help fulfill its social responsibilities in the local community. Our company preserves a budget to make monetary donations with the aim to advance education, community events and alleviate those in need. The Bassadone Automotive Group donates €100,000 each year to support local charities. The company supports various causes, including education, health care and disaster relief. In 2023, the Group sponsored the installation of its 20th water well in Sierra Leone.

In addition to these donations, the Group has established The George AC Bassadone Scholarship, which gives a valuable opportunity for students from developing countries to pursue a world-class education and study Master of Science in Public Health (MScH) degree at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine (LSHTM). The scholarship provides financial support and allows students to focus on their studies without worrying about financial constraints.

"We would like to thank SsangYong and Stephen Bucci in particular, Customer and Technical Manager at the company, for identifying and selecting us as the beneficiary of these laptops. They have been put to good use already and our visitors have really enjoyed learning more technical skills."

corporate environmental responsibility

Corporate Environment Responsibility (CER) refers to the duty of the company not to indulge in activities that may damage the natural environment in any manner. KGM Motors UK is adopting sustainability models that will help ensure availability of resources for the future. Whilst this is a work in progress, we focus on activities as the infrastructure creation for our CER programme such as drinking water supply, sanitisation, skill development, recycling, packaging, electrification including solar power and BEV charging infrastructure, and waste management solutions.

"Our company will proactively protect the environment. Examples of relevant activities include: Recycling, conserving energy, using environmentally-friendly technologies. We will take all reasonable steps to manage our operations so as to minimise our environmental impact and to promote good environmental practice. We will set and follow high standards in energy efficiency and safety. We will continue to promote responsible and sustainable methods of energy efficiency; and review regularly our business practices and performance to identify how we can improve our energy efficiency, minimise packaging and reduce water usage, waste disposal and emissions."
